If you're concerned with being 'more humane' why are you shooting at the animals in the first place?

You don't need to hunt to live in the modern USA. It's a conceit.

Maybe you don't want the wounded animal to run off because you don't want to have to drag your sorry ass the extra miles to find it and then haul its gutted carcass out of the woods. It's a lot more fun to kill than to have to clean up your mess, right? And maybe you're not such a good shot to begin with ... A semi-automatic makes even a blind man into a Daniel Boone ...

Let's be honest : you like the thrill and the throb of that sleek black metal in your hands. It gives you a sense of power and virility that nothing else can touch.

If you want a hunting thrill, why don't you charge a mother Grizzly with a buck-knife. Then, if you survive, you'll really have something to tell the boys in the bar about.
