This is different from what the Repubs did in 2016. In 2016, the republican senators would not even set up meetings with Merrick Garland. They had no idea what his judicial ideals were because they never talked to the man. I'm not putting that idea forward. I'm saying that after the Democrats meet with the nominee, if said nominee does not meet their ideals, then they should not vote for the nominee. If the nominee does meet their ideals, then do. Democrats are in the situation they are because they have not stood up for themselves more. When Republicans demonstrate that they live with us on Earth 1 instead of Earth 2 where the Tangerine Weirdo lives, and are willing to act civilly, then we can go back to being nice like we have usually been. Until then we need to do what we need to do to save the Democracy that is the USA
