I am hoping that is how they will play it. Time out endorsements so she keeps staying on top of the news cycle and it looks like momentum is continuing to build.
The rumor is this, that there was agreement that Joe needed to step out but not agreement on what the process after he steps out would be. So, Obama and Pelosi are said to favor a delegate floor fight at the convention and let the delegates decide who the candidate should be. Whereas, Biden, the Clintons, and the other faction believe it falls to Harris to step in.
Howard Dean when he discussed this said he thought a floor fight would be a mistake. I tend to lean toward the idea it would be because people are then going to start nominating with their hearts before their heads. I went around and read comments in different places, and when Biden announced he would be dropping out the opinions from regular people commenting around the internet were spread between all the people you think they would be thinking about. There were people calling for Michelle Obama, Hillary, Newsom, Whitmer, Bernie, and Kamala. I mean, opinions will fly all over the place. Some of the names mentioned you can just cross right off, Michelle because she has already said she does not want it, Hillary would be a massive mistake and she has already endorsed Harris. Bernie is not throwing his hat into the ring again either. Newsom and Whitmer just don't have the name recognition Harris does at this point.
Looking at the data now, Harris is the biggest name and polls the best. She already is looking like she has recovered the lead in polling and things are flipping back against Trump.
Trump already freaked out over having to face Harris, already is whining it is not fair, and does not want to debate her. FOX news is promoting the hilarious idea that Biden stepping out was a Democrat coup. Utter bullshit. Trump whined he wants a refund on the money he spent campaigning against Biden and openly said "We prepared to face him, this isn't fair!" and now he is saying that he believes because the Democrats dropped Biden, now he deserves 4 terms as president. He apparently believes that he was going to get two more terms as president.
Plus, come on, Biden and Harris got the votes in the primaries, so if you want to talk fair, the fairest thing that respects the vote is to have Harris step in. She has a legitimate claim she shared in getting those votes. Nobody else does, Biden endorsed her, and this is why you have a VP if something happens with the president, the VP steps in.
You have to look at all that and think, yes, Harris is a good thing.
