okay, you got me. it just seemed so...cool. so risque, so punk rock, to be one of the Last Great Outsiders, the Sanctamonious Persecuted (before the title swings around to Christians again)...so, yes, it's all true. db and his to-die-for collection of sandlewood oils and incenses carry the day.

on that note, though, i've been enjoying the marital blisses of many friends here in town; a guy i work with, who gleefully married his love of 7 years, and some other good friends H. & D. we had a dinner party for them last month the night after they wed. my gal had been to a [het] wedding in her hometown the weekend before, and she caught the bouquet (eek!...but that's what being 5'10" will do for/to ya...). so she presented it to them, they wore custom veils that she'd sewn for them, and we all had a lovely dinner, sweet toasts and lots of laughs. the look in their eyes, at being finally recognized as equal citizens in this country, the excitement in their voices as they told their stories...yeah, hooray for love says it all.
