I don't see anything wrong in what he said. Uncomfortable and inflammatory, yes, but untrue? No.
One could also say this: to reduce the average income of Americans, you could abort every caucasian child born of parents with at least a bachelor's degree. That too would be wrong and morally reprehensible, but there is no evidence to suggest that it would not achieve the outcome of reducing average income.
