A surprisingly cogent post, George. I've heard a number of troubling things about the Sierra Club over the past few years, and even if I hadn't--a non-profit group does not an unimpeachable source make.
However...having said that, the real root issue here, I think, was Pat's prima facie dismissal of the entire article simply because it came from the Sierra Club, and without taking the time or effort to attack or debate singular points. Isn't that just as bad as giving a source a free pass?
