I'm going to oversimplify this because I'm hung over and short on coffee, but the Feds' best shot at this guy is to Swiftboat him and the most visible of those around him.

Point out the inaccuracies and contradictions of his statements, show where his actions haven't matched his words(I'm guessing wackos aren't the most consistent people) and discredit him with the folks who are jumping on his bandwagon. Do it now before it reaches a trial or he's dead or both.

This guy doesn't strike me as savvy enough or grounded enough to be able to counter it, and removing a big chunk of his base should be plenty to take the wind out of his sails.
