Well I posted a link to Reg's story at the DailyKos... Was rather shocked at the indifferent and even at times bloodthirsty response to it. What do civilised countries like Norway do when this kind of stuff happens? Does anybody know? Do they even have these kinds of situations? Remember, this isn't a hostage situation. Why not just wait them out? Hopefully that's what's going to happen. I remember being, what 11 or 12 when the Patty Hearst showdown finally happened with the SLA. It was the first time I'd really been able to imagine an American police state. And when the Philly police dropped a 2000 pound bomb on MOVE. And of course, Waco, and Ruby Ridge. It sends a terrible message about us as a people that we can't end these situations without killing everybody in sight. Is there not a better way to deal with these situations than with overwhelming force? So far, all these people seem to have done is talk. (And refuse to pay taxes, of course, but so does GE, for the most part, and I haven't seen any SWAT teams roll up to Jack Welch's Aspen compound)
