Here are some links, one of which contains the abstract of the JAMA article, published in 1988. Again, most conclude that Absinthe is largely alcohol, and that the Thujone contaminant was dangerous and toxic, thus removed from the market. As I mentioned earlier, Pernod is basically Absinthe with the toxic by product removed, and I think it is fairly easy to purchase at most well-stocked liquor stores in the United States.
