George:Neil Young is famous because of his contribution to THREE
BANDS of the rock era --- Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills,
Nash and Young, and Crazy Horse. Most singer/songwriters
are lucky if they make it in one band let alone three. Four
actually, because he has been a solo artist for 30 years as well.Neil is in the Bob Dylan category --- a lot of people don't like
either man's delivery or musical canon --- but both are
successful because of the beautiful songs they write. Neil has
had some beautiful songs --- OLD MAN, OHIO, LIKE A
HURRICANE, THE NEEDLE AND THE DAMAGE DONE, HELPLESS,
just to name a few that are more well known. He also recorded
an album with PEARL JAM --- MIRRORBALL --- that album
kicks ass. One other major area that Neil Young deserves a lot of respect
is his THIS NOTE'S FOR YOU tour of 1989 --- where he
completely refused to accept or take part in tour advertisment
or sponsorship. Not exactly everyone's cup of tea, but then you and I are from
different eras anyway.Neil Young also deserves much praise and kudos for what he
has done with the BRIDGE SCHOOL --- a school for the
physically disabled --- his son Ben has a severe form of
spastic Cerebral Palsy. Also, Neil Young now owns the LIONEL MODEL TRAIN
COMPANY. He bought the company just because his son got
such enjoyment out of it, and NOT for a profit. THAT'S LOVE!His new CD GREENDALE is one hell of a comment on what we
have allowed ourselves to become --- through our apathy and
lack of motivation. The CD contains a DVD, which is a TWO
HOUR performance of GREENDALE in order of the album by
Neil in a solo acoustic setting. The set includes lots of
expository comments and interludes by Neil between songs.Besides DAVID BAERWALD --- what music floats your boat?Curious . . . P n' P = KDB
