Amen...GA...my thoughts exactly.  This message board has sucked mightily of late...my posts included.  Forget politics...as John Lennon once said, "everywhere you look, someone is getting tortured or shot". Not that those issues aren't important, but...let's get back to music!

I have heard nothing of late that really perks me up, probably because I am getting old and stale.  I have been listening to some music I wrote and which I record from time to time on my home "studio".  Usually, I am initially enthusiastic; with repeated listenings though..I probably do not have THAT much to contribute, and I don't think the world will stop turning for want of my music.

BUT..on my "box" of late (Vinyls here..), for some reason the past week, I've been playing:

1. Elvin Jones; Live at the Village Vanguard ; super session with George Coleman on Tenor Saxophone.

2. Harry Belafonte; Calypso.  Old childhood favorite.  Remember sitting at Grandma's country cabin in St.Donat Quebec, listening over and over to this.   I think an old copy would be hard to find (MONO; High Fidelity).   There have been dozens of re-pressings in "simulated" Stereo, and I'm sure it's on CD now.   A classic, and not to be missed.  Day-O, and lots o' songs about bananas, rum, and pretty women who "take a dee money and run Venezuela".
