As far as the flat tax goes.....why should the middle class have to pay an actual higher ratio of their income for everyday things while the more fortunate do not. For example, when compared to incomes, a gallon of milk to takes more from my income than to Donald Trump. So to make things more fair I'd like to see something like a cost of living tax or consumption tax. Another example is why should I have to pay the same taxes when I drive a sedan verses someone who drives an SUV? Why should I be taxed more when it comes to wear and tear on highways, gas consumption and environmental concerns? As for welfare, some studies have shown that for every one dollar that goes to poor families, four more go to corporate welfare. But what I'd really like to know is why the hell doesn't the mainstream media question the patriotism of companies that flee the US for low wage workers or bank offshore to avoid paying taxes? Or for that matter, why does corporate America continue to manipulate the American mind to purchase crap that is putting us in the pockets of other foreign countries when it comes to things like energy consumption? One last thing....when it comes to the minimum wage, all of us benefit from low wage workers more than we acknowledge. If not for them, all of us would be paying much higher prices than we realize. The underground economy, whether right or wrong, benefits us all. We need to realize this and quit dumping on these people. They do more for us than many realize. EEE
