I asked that same question almost a decade ago when I first started posting here. (I went digging around in the archives to try & find the post but...well, life is too short).

It was a mystery to me then why the guy who wrote Triage attracted so many seemingly rabid righties. (and actually there aren't that many anymore) I think that it's the openness of the format and certainly David's ongoing willingness to stick around and mix it up with everybody.

...and I think it's that Pat and Dale have a secret wish to be persuaded of how wrong they've been about just about everything. Kind of like going to Re-Education Camp without ever leaving your home....
