You keep bringing this up and give 0 details as to how the US invasion and occupation of Iraq is in any way like the Japanese invasion and occupation of China, the German invasion and occupation of Russia, France, Poland, etc., and the Italian invasion and occupation of North Africa, not to mention the German attacks on British homeland and Japanese attacks on US homeland. As I have posted before, the only corollary that I can see (with my reliance on those liberal history books I was brought up on) is that the US is in the role of "Bad Guy" in the current Iraq conflict. And my guess is that history will see it that way. The US invaded a sovereign state without reliable cause, the US occupied that sovereign state, and now the US will stay in that no longer sovereign state for as long as we think is necessary, with no end game in sight. If your proposition is that we need to "close out" this fiasco in the same way we "humbled" the Japanese in 1945, I think you're very wrong, and it will only further the world view of the US as a bully that wants to dictate orders to the rest of the world (i.e. Iran can't have nukes, but Pakistan can) without having to answer for our misdeeds (i.e. bringing civil war to Iraq. Coming soon to Iran).BTW, just in case it matters, I rarely visit left-wing or progressive blogs. I rarely get my news from just one source, and I haven't listened to talk radio in years. These are my thoughts, not the regurgitations of a sheep.
