H-h-hey P-P-Peter,
How do you like these temperatures?!?!?!?!
If we discover any nukes, or a hint of a nuke, in Iraq then we will see unanimous support from all concerned. Maybe even the French. If that happens our F-117A's will already be in the air.
But I'd take your justification of an attack one step further; if any WOMD are found we should take him out. If he's got them, or he's working on developing them, he plans on using them on someone and that is unacceptable.
And while I'm at it I'd like to address another point I keep hearing from the anti-war groups. Just because we are deploying tens of thousand of our troops in the region does not mean we will suffer "massive casualties". Nor does it mean there will be thousands civilian casualties. Technology has allowed us to pin point military targets to within a few feet. The allied forces lost "only" a few hundred men to liberate Kuwait and most of those casualties were the result of friendly fire. IF we go into Iraq it will be in the air (again). We should be able to topple his regiem without setting one foot in Iraq. There are enough people in Iraq who would love to see Saddam go. They would probably handle most of the "house to house" action many people fear.
I think the majority of America feels like you and I do; I'd rather not go into Iraq but if losing a few lives means preventing the loss of thousands of lives, then it must be done. The world will be a better, safer place because of it.
