I'm in favor of continuing to box the guy in but if the inspectors find reason to believe he poses a threat to stability in the region then I'd have no problem in seeing him taken out.

The possibility of war absolutely exists because of the oil in the region.  Without the oil we wouldn't be as concerned.  What if he was sitting on a similar percentage of the world's food supply?  Would this be enough to cause us to say he must go?

We're a country/world dependent upon oil for our very lives and to have a madman in control of so much of it is great cause for concern.  It would be nice to think that the oil wasn't worth risking lives over but I'm afraid it has become so.

If nothing else, I think this whole situation should cause us all to pause and consider how dependent upon oil our lives are.  We American's have enjoyed cheap oil our entire lives and it could be that a very rude awakening is just around the corner.  I have a hard time imagining us continuing on the road we're on without some sort of change in our thinking in how we approach our use of oil.  We've all got an additction we need to stop denying.
