I'll start by saying that I don't support the death penalty. And, I too express great sympathy to the victims' families for their unfathomable losses and I don't think Tookie deserves accolades or other privileges for his actions. However, if his efforts now (and future) deter even a few others from choosing the gang life and/or murdering other innocent souls - while he remains in prison - wouldn't it be true that some good could come of his hideous actions. Wouldn't that be a true, living testament to lives lost? And yes, I am a card-carrying (ACLU)liberal and proud of it.
