I really don't understand why McConnell stands by and allows the party to be hijacked by Trump. It's not as though he's facing an opponent to his seat in the upcoming election, and I'm quite sure this will be his last term in office. Where is the forceful break from Trump that I have to believe many of his fellow legislators would welcome. Can't he see that this doesn't end well for our country?
The frank testimony of Herschmann was powerful. There was no room left for these guys to claim any sort of ignorance of the laws they were breaking. Even more powerful was the testimony of Judge Luttig. I found this series of tweets by the retired judge (relating to his testimony) to be a worthwhile read...link.
