I don't have a lot of hope at this stage that people will change their minds, Kevin. You are one of the exceptions and like you said, you go back to well before Trump came in with the idea that he would be as divisive as he could...and well, if anything Trump did succeed at his goal of horribly dividing us. I don't think that should be the goal of the president of the "United" States but it sure was his goal and the one thing he did well.
You know, listening to these January 6th hearings I think in other circumstances would cause me fits of laughter, because Trump and his minions are so freaking stupid. However, knowing 74 million people voted for this guy instead just gives me a queasy feeling.
The idea that so many people do not see through his nonsense is, honestly, mind blowing. Plus allowing some of the worst scum in the country to become a real voice in their party is just a disgrace.
I get it, if they reject the 30 to 35% of their voters that are racists, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Steve Bannon fans, Tucker Carlson fans, Roger Stone minions, well...they will lose elections. But the truth is the more you give that scum a voice in your party the more Jim Jordans, Marjorie Greenes, Lauren Boeberts, etc we will see elected to office.
Not sure where Marc went, hopefully he is alright and hopefully he does not believe this stupidity.
I still say it looks like the Democrats are going to get slaughtered in the midterms and unless we turn around as a country with inflation and our economy improves, Biden and Harris are probably going down in flames. That will be bad news for us all.
Do you believe in miracles?
I want to laugh, I want to take comfort in the idea that most people do see through all the Republican bullshit but I think enough of them do not that we are in a lot of trouble.
