Icon American ignorance and shallowness is so disturbing....

I sit back and after observing debacles like the war in Iraq and other erroneously driven actions by the US - especially those in the Trump era - and seriously wonder if the US is really headed toward being one of the most disliked countries in the world.

Mainly what I mean is, too much of America's thought is based so deeply on ignorance and the refusal of the embrace of knowledge.  It's almost like a certain segment of America is proud to be ignorant and stupid and this segment wears it like a badge of honor.

For example, shortly after 9-11 I recall an interview with those we call the "radical" Islamics" (I believe it was a very short piece in Harper's) and the person stated what Americans just didn't understand was that to Muslims, their religion was everything - that it was their life, while Americans and their religion was more or less practiced one day of the week.

Secondly, the concept of time is also so horribly ignored in the US.  Many years ago I came across this article in the New Yorker about a tribe of people that had no concept of 24 hrs in a day - that time was just strung together with no seconds, hours, days, weeks, months and so on (from time to time I try to find this article and have yet to do so).  But how we recognize time in the US also, in my opinion, seriously impedes true progress.  We are such a self-centered and selfish people that instead of thinking generations down the road we focus on one generation - our own.

I mean, shit, look at the current climate crisis.  We are reaping what we have sown right now and those so interested in their own lives are causing this issue to be politicized instead of figuring out that we are in serious fucking trouble, but that those after us are in even more serious trouble because of us and those that continue to foment pure horseshit and lies.

Oh, well...back to the music....
