Your argument is brilliant. The police are so highly trained that they must pepper spray people or else shoot them dead just to break up a fight. I don't even think they are that pathetic, but to each his own. I am sure you have a good reason to think those thoughts.
Regarding the tragedy at that UW-Mich game: They were not rioters. They were 18-22 year-old college students attending a football game, who wanted to celebrate a stupid football victory. Most of those injured were young females - hardly the sort to be enticing a riot. The railing that crushed so many kids was put in to enforce the "treat them like cattle" attitude so pervasive amongst the security at the game.
Yes, some students were MAYBE under the influence - just like people elsewhere else in the stadium, the city, the state, the country, the whole planet were. So if you are buzzed you deserve to be stampeded or pepper-sprayed?
On this we do agree: Unfortunately people are injured or involved due to assholes being themselves... There is no one to blame in these situations other than the perpetrators of the situations themselves.
I am blaming the assholes, not scapegoating.
