Your last paragraph is pretty telling. I didn't even realize you are a cop. And I do understand your concern. But I also wonder, are you saying only cops should be armed? Not law abiding citizens?

You are almost already there in Illinois and then it is only one more step in your state to your state government disarming you too (look at England right now)

In my state it is completely fine to open carry (if you aren't a felon) but nobody does that (except a small minority of morons) and why? Well you know exactly why already. Because somebody is going to call you (the cop) to find out why moron is doing that.

But your premise is misguided and completely misses the point. In Ohio, everybody that conceal carries has already been heavily vetted and chances are very low that they will use it against a peace officer. Well unless they shoot his/her dog or kid unnecessarily of course. So make sure you know your target like they do.

Guns are just tools... like screwdrivers. And if I wanted to kill somebody and was crazy, a screwdriver works fine too. Hell, so would my car for that matter. Should we outlaw those too?
