mainly because each side is entrenched in unmovable points of view that they bolster with malleable statistics to try and make their own point.

Unfortunately, I think many get to a point where they realize so many controversial topics are pointless to discuss because the true examination of these topics includes terrible truths that either side can't handle or does not want to touch. And this is mainly because when these topics are discussed by sincerely honest people and scholars, they are too quickly labeled in negative ways that render their opinions impotent.

Many years ago, I read a piece that made me believe that when constructed, those that constructed the Bill of Rights, did intend for Americans to own firearms, but I also believe that during those days, those same people had no idea what firearms would grow into (developmental wise) and with that, I seriously think if they had been able to predict the type of armaments that exist today, then their opinions might have been more clear and restrictive.

As an officer, do I like "concealed carry"....not really because I'd prefer it be an open carry if such a type of law is to exist. That way, it would be clear who was or was not carrying a firearm. But, then again, we are trained to believe that any person could be carrying a firearm - that is why there is a focus on watching a person's hands and telling them to keep them where they can be seen (to the lay person, the demand/request to keep one's hands in sight is often seen as an offensive request, but it is done for a reason).
