A fox got in this morning, no doubt feeding her kits(as she was lean).

I was too late, except to watch this jaunty little fox with the 17th duckling in her jaw scoop up an 18th. Curiously, not unlike a trait some of the ducklings exhibit which I call Hoovering: bill low to the ground running around scooping up whatever they can.

She, very efficient, very quiet.

Leapt a four foot fence, pretty as you please.

Heart breaking ...

Solarized electric fence top wire has suddenly become affordable, damn.

Where were the adults? Standing off to the side watching. Which always baffles me almost as much as the ducklings(which is the noisiest stage of their life) not peeping(which is piercing.

Ahhh ... the circle of life .... :( peaceably
