I would say we have an overwhelming amount of Christian thinking, values, and participation in this country...how does keeping the functions of a church focused on spiritual matters take away from an individual taking part in a democratic system of government? It does not and Mr. Boyd is still telling people to go out and vote their heart, just don't bring politics into the church where it does not belong.
Consider also if this were Muslims holding political functions or setting up tables to distribute political propaganda in their places of worship...ahh...they would go right to the top of FBI/Homeland Security watchlists. And people like Pat would be the first to cheer putting a boot on their throat.
But if it's Christians doing it...WAHOO!
