Believe me, Eric, your words match my thoughts completely. My wife and daughter are so sick of me railing against Bush and the disinterested, distracted, and utterly ignorant American public. I know I must sound like a broken record to them, and my friends, but I truly am astounded that there are so many citizens who simply don't get it! I find myself on the look out for Bush bumperstickers when driving. Invariably I speed up to examine the driver and offer a dirty look (and look to see if their lobotomy scars are showing). Who can possibly display their allegiance to these thugs so publicly? I am convinced that 1/3 of voters will stand by Bush through anything, ANY FUCKING THING! I remember that I thought Clinton perjured himself when he lied about sex with Monica. Yeah, I know, everyone, or most everyone lies about sex, but still I thought Clinton should resign. In retrospect, what a witch hunt! And Bush will skate away after committing REAL crimes? I keep thinking that some honorable Republicans will step forward and speak the truth about the administration, sort of like when Boston attorney, Joseph Welch, said to Senator Joseph McCarthy, "Have you no sense of decency, sir?" You may say I'm a dreamer, Eric,... Really, I question my actions as well. Why do I daily scrutinize the columns at commondreams.org. or read the latest from Billmon? I must be a masochist, but still, we are living through the most despicable administration in our nation's history, and its my duty to remain informed and vocal. In years to come, my daughter will not reflect upon this time and wonder where I stood.
