Kerry is an opportunist, who will say/do anything to get elected. Whatever way the wind blows, his weathervane turns. Frankly, I find him frightening in some respects...Kerry will never deliver on his delusional promises. It's impossible, and he knows it. But..he craves POWER. Isn't that nice? We should be afraid of such people.
Man, that's some harsh stuff Gene. Just curious what led you to these things? Perhaps I've missed some things, most of my news comes from the papers so I don't see a lot of what they show on tv but I don't see Kerry's run for president as a Kerry Power Trip...I'd be more inclined to say that about Nader.
Has he played both sides of the fence to win voters...sure...but let's see anybody...and I mean anyone on this earth run for high office without pandering and you know what you've got? A guy or woman that will never get elected. It's not possible.
They each have a boatload of advisors and handlers telling them what they need to do or say at every second of the day...they are not permitted to be themselves or even tell the people what they'd really like to do and if you slip up and at any moment act like who you really are...well all hell breaks loose...ask Howard Dean or Dubya...Dean had a few human moments in front of the cameras and they crucified him. Dubya does it all the time, he seems just not to be too swift that way...and there is an ever growing collection of his bloopers out there.
The diversity of reasons people will vote for someone is so wide that for a lot of voters it comes down to a position on a single issue...say abortion....you've got people that vote for someone just because they think the candidate is against or for it. You need to find a way to appeal to these people.
You've got people that see a clip of a candidate doing or saying something and based on that one moment, or that one sentence people decide "this guy's an asshole, or an idiot" and that's it they don't get their vote.
You've got people out there that will hold out on voting for a Democrat or Republican because they want a third choice. So, each side tries to find a way to get to those voters. Running for president in this country is a fucking train wreck and putting yourself in that postion is just like getting on a plane you know is going to crash. No matter what, you know lots of bad things are going to happen and if you survive them the task you have to face if you win is enormous...and yeah you're correct...Kerry or Bush whichever gets elected will start off with a shitload of people already against them...
