The first Boston record and the song More than a Feeling in particular definitely changed my life. When that sound hit the airwaves and the high school dances in 1976 it was fresh, new and vital... I still listen to the first brilliant side of that record...

The Clash, on the other hand, what little I heard of them, I'll admit, was catchy and fun, but frankly rather trite, boring and utimately meaningless to me upon repeated listens, especially irritating crapola like Rock the Casbah... It certainly never made me want to go out and buy it... But then, I'd say the same thing about the Police until Synchronicity... Beyond such a thing as having something to say in your music, there's also saying it well... Poetry in motion, if you will... It seems to me the Clash never had a whole lot to say nor did they express that message in a particularly original or effective way, unless you happen to enjoy the spirit of a drunken barroom brawl... Or a gaping rectum, for that matter...
