I enjoyed the fact that in their day, Boston "brought their instruments with them, and actually played them" as I believe the quote went inside their record sleeves.

I loved their harmonies, and "great big" songs. Still do, on occasion.

But I think the one thing I loved most about Boston was their harmonizin'. Those voices just fit so perfectly, and that's a mean feat even with multitracking and what-have-you.

When Boston released the post-first-two albums, I was still a huge fan . . . until their most recent one, which really blew me away with boredom.

I hope this cat can get a great living/career out of his very high vocals, but as someone already noted, he's no Brad Delp. I simply don't believe the USA Today story about Scholz hearing this stuff & thinking he was listening to his own band. No way. I'd take that test blindfolded & win every time, and I have a hard time imagining I'm more sensitive to sounds than Scholz, who I think is a genius.

On the other hand, that most recent Boston album . . . was so bad (compared to all the others) that maybe someone could make the case that Scholz's genius days are past him.

He still gave us plenty of great, fun music to listen to, so I'm not doggin' the guy!
