I think one of the main things operating here is that these guys (CIA) in the main, are professionally apolitical. They have to be, as they are career employees that stay through administrations, therefore their mission has to be the good of the country, not the aims of the administration du jour. These men and women see themselvs as the true patriots and guardians of the union, and when the White House started up the office of special operations to funnel the Chibali people's "intel" against the specific recommendatin of senior CIA staff, they started saving documentation for the day it blew up. We've just started seeing what they have, I'm sure. Now that Bushco has started in earnest to try and pin the blame on the CIA, we are going to see Ambassador Wilson on a regular basis with new documents. All quality tuna folks, not a red herring in the bunch.
I just finished listening to Take Back the Media's weekly webcast (archived on the site, I highly recommend it.) and their take on it was that Bush is playing the CIA's game on the CIA, and that he was bound to fail. They find it Ironic that the intelligence community, who some on the left have always feared as "gestapo" is going to be the instrument of this administrations downfall. So do I - more power to them.
