Left to us in the US and it is the impeachment process, which could be done quickly. I know from the previous two times he was impeached it seems that process has been neutered but this was only because the Senate was majority Republican and would not convict, just as they did not convict Clinton, and so the process could not be completed.
However, creating a world war, where we are the Nazi Germany and become the enemy of the entire planet, this has changed the minds of Republican senators. They are moving already to prevent the Greenland attack, to make it illegal to use US funds to attack any NATO ally nation. However, just as when Nixon resigned, what needs to happen is a group of top Republicans need to go in for an emergency meeting and tell Trump, you will be impeached, the votes are there. You will not attack Greenland, or Canada.
They have the power to do this, to do it at a rapid pace, and they need to put it on Trump's plate right now. Trump should know that if impeached and convicted by the Senate, he is out and open to prosecution and all the investigations that will follow.
Two things are a bit nerve-wracking in this. One is that we are once again at the mercy of Republicans to save the world and that has not worked out at all for us so far. They have been utterly useless. However, reconstituting the world order to Trump, Putin, Xi, and maybe that murderer MBS is not in anybody's favor and most, not all, but most Republicans know that. They need sixty Senate votes, they have them. I know it has not at all been pleasant to have to sit, watch, and wait to see if Republicans would do the right thing, but at least a dozen of them would in this case if not the majority of them.
The second thing is, we know the strategy Trump likes to use and most likely would want to employ again here, which is do it or break it first, then let people fight over how to fix it. So, his plan, and scum like Miller would advise him, attack first without telling anyone then let the fight begin over what to do next. There are some barriers to this, in that this is not as easy as hiring a wrecking crew to demolish the White House. This would be a massive operation involving the military and it would be an illegal order, meaning whomever he gives the order to, general, admiral, whomever, can disobey it, tell the Congress what he attempted to do, and they could immediately impeach him. Remember Trump's own words, "If I go down, you all go down with me." and in this case he means the entire fucking planet. We have never had a more just and righteous moment to impeach a president.
I know what you are thinking "But, Reg, this guy had his people attack the capitol, beat and kill police officers, he is having his ICE agents kill young mothers in the street on camera, he has them gassing and attacking American citizens, arresting them without cause, Republicans have done nothing, over and over, why should we believe they will finally act now?"
It's a valid question and all I can say is...they will.
Trump is an enemy to his own people, his own country, he just threatened all of Europe to give him Greenland or else, he is a threat to peace worldwide, and if anybody on the Republican side wanted to hide behind the idea that he was just trolling or joking about what he was going to do, that excuse is long gone.
Now is the time for the Republicans to act, to tell him point blank they have the votes to impeach him and he will stop or be removed and prosecuted. He is walking us up to the brink of WWIII and that cannot happen.
Yes, the impeachment proceedings should have already begun, they should have held the vote in the House so it was sitting with the Senate already, so it was hanging over his head. The guy is a maniac, best put it on the table so he can see how real it is, Trump only understands threats, so time get it out there. Time to let the world know we do not stand with this lunatic.
