: I didn't take your perspective as a flame war, and didn't intend to launch one on you. There is nothing delicate about my sensabilities. I would have done much more to someone that busted my nads - but that's why I don't run around with a 9mm on my hip and a badge on my chest.
Fair enough.
: Last time something like this happened a whole neighborhood went up in flames.
This is precisely my point.
:It is not a matter of conclusions, it is a matter of perceptions. If a minority group believe that they are being targeted with violence, then that is the only conclusion we should be concerned with.
Yes, but...sometimes our perceptions have been manufactured for us (read deceptions). People should try to remember that when they watch/read disturbing stuff in the news.
: Gee, could I just put the handcuffed person into the back of the car?
Apparently this was attempted several times. But then again, I wasn't there.
: If you were a TV producer do you really think that you'd wait for all the facts before airing it?
Yes, I would. That is a journalist's job isn't it?
: Police far too often act like they are above the law - that they are around to scare and dominate rather than protect and serve.
I agree with you here Kravitz...there ARE plenty of uppity cops out there, but I don't believe we should vilify a whole police department (or city for that matter) because of a few misguided individuals (I'm not accusing you of suggesting this either). For Englewood and its' police force however, the incident is a total embarrassment that has reached global awareness. I'm just not sure that was necessary. Yet.
