And that is stupidity. I can't believe that a bunch of people this stupid is what brings us down.

Looking at it from a scientific standpoint, I think that the Republican party is under so much strain from what aligning with Trump and MAGA goons has done to them that the sheer force of all that weight, all that drag, all that torque, is going to cause it to snap and collapse. I don't see any Republicans working to alleviate this problem and so, there looks to me to be just a single outcome from it, the party breaks. You can't let the 500 pound gorilla swing on a pole designed to only hold 100 pounds.

The party is ripping apart. Working so hard to create division in this country has unified more people against them and divided their own party.

I think that there are clear signs that they can't sustain with things being as they are. Trump has called for violent protest, again, posting a picture of himself holding a baseball bat next to Alvin Bragg. His followers, according to the people watching them, are so far not taking the bait and appear to believe it is a trap for them and that Trump will betray them if they show up to protest. This is reflected in the numbers, at one protest, 1 guy showed up. At others, no more than 10 or 15 people. They are not picking up their baseball bats.

This is good, shows waning support, and that they maybe understand that Trump is trying to use them as human shields.

Jordan writing a letter to Bragg (at the instruction of Trump's lawyer) that he wants to question him is a clear shot at destroying the rule of law, the state's rights that Republicans claim to be all for and creating a monster of the federal government. I don't expect all of the Republicans to get that, but some will, and it was a bad move that just puts more weight on that perilously bending pole. That was a panic move to send that letter and it stinks of desperation.

All strain on the party that does not need to be there because they feel they have to defend Trump, whose lawyers can't even defend him. Being in the defend Trump business seems a massive losing proposition.

I just think that the laws of physics show that if the Republican party feels they have to continue to be the defend Trump party...the weight of that will crush them. Right now, this appears to be their primary reason to exist. That won't work.

They defend him because Trump threatens them and because it looks so bad for them that they supported him. These are weak positions. Heavy weight placed on a structure not designed to support it. It is causing the party to make bad choice after bad choice because they are invested in having to do something that is not tenable.

This is what I think is happening and what makes sense in my view. I would not want to be in the position the Republicans are in. They are constantly on defense working to protect a guy and actions that are not defensible. Some in the party are well aware of this, others, appear to think if they break it, they can make their insanity come true. I just don't believe that will or can happen.

They should have read the tea leaves and as Trump lost and continues to lose support, cutting ties with him was the way to go. Now they are hanging on to a dying and failed idea.

That has to end badly for them, don't you think?
