These days you can fake anything and anyone can be bought... The real question is why we are talking about it and that can have multiple answers some of whom can have opposing viewpoints such as support for the military industrial complex, support for a unified world against a common enemy, various religious nutters or just nutters in general.
Caveat: I DO believe in alien life, but as long as I haven't seen any magic tech that involves FTL (Faster Than Light) travel or similar stuff that brake our understanding of physics I find it highly unlikely that UFO's etc. are E.T. / Aliens ;-)
