"I have more than once criticized the uber-woke folk who advocate for abolishing the police, who marinate in identity politics, who happily de-platform speakers on college campuses, who shut down speech, who intimidate those who refuse to raise a fist for BLM. "
I saw that in Portland, Oregon two weeks ago. Driving up Hawthorne street to get to Jackpot Records, I say that just about EVERY store was flying a BLM flag or sticker. I would guess that there is a 0% chance that ALL of those shops' owners are ardent supporters of BLM, even though I would guess that most would gladly say that Black lives do matter. That's not quite the same as BLM the organization, even though both ideas pull is a similar direction.
Instead, I would suggest that those businesses feel very much intimidated right now. The re-election of an very ineffective Ted Wheeler as mayor over a a "much-further-left" challenger tells you that.
