The move to NY state surprised me, too. Did you get the sense he did it for strictly literary reasons (to write his novel there)? 

I think another fave of mine, Graham Parker, lives fairly close to DB, but I'm not certain. Not sure if they would mesh well, but perhaps. 

Looking at it on a map, he could definitely make an easy drive to Northampton, Massachusetts in order to play the Iron Horse. A great venue where I've seen Paul Kelly, The Hold Steady, The Waifs, etc. Smith College is there and its botanical gardens, lots of fine restaurants, and Rachael Maddow resides there! 

Perhaps once this upside down world is back on its feet again!
