The first to me is the most obvious and that is unfettered greed and predatory capitalism. These people are trying to take and gobble up all they can. The second one and one that to me has been lacking in media coverage comes down simply to race. As I've been watching this, I think there is a visceral, racial tie between these groups. In a way, I think Trump, his followers, and the Republicans see Putin and Russia as a sort of purebred Aryans. And I think congressional Republicans, the white Americans, are so afraid of losing their grasp on power, they have realized that the way to hold onto it as long as they can is to stoke the fear of white America and the loss of their standing. I watch these groups and their fear is obvious and with Trump, I think so many of his followers feel he has given them the opportunity to openly express their views (i.e., fears) while allowing themselves not to feel racist. It's like he has given them both permission and absolution to proudly declare their racial proclivities without caring about how they appear.
