Well, in terms of Trump voters and Republicans, I have always had the
percentage of "I can shoot somebody on 5th avenue and they will still
support me!" crowd at around 30% of Republicans. People recently drilling
down on that and things I've read puts them at 28% and I really think that's
an accurate estimate. So, all through the process of Trump's campaign and
his truly bizarre rallies my feeling is we are dealing with that unhinged
28% that has left us...by "left us" I mean that exist in an alternate
reality and nothing anybody can say can really bring them back to planet
Earth. I wish that there were several former DBIS members here to discuss this,
including Kent who was the person that brought people like Alex Jones to my
attention. I'd love to hear Kent's take on Jones now as Jones has gone from
weirdo fringe dweller that guys like Marc and his amigos would mock Kent for
listening to, to a key voice for the wacko 28% of Republican voters and
Trump likes and praises Jones. Marc not too long ago here said Jones gets
some stuff right, which honestly, absolutely blew my mind that he would
listen to anything a total wacko like Jones would say. I mean how upside down is it that Alex Jones can go in a relatively short
period of time from somebody that is an obvious nut job that promotes the
idea that shape shifting lizard people are running the planet to a leading
voice for the president of the United States and 30% of Republican voters?
Really...that happened. Which brings me to the Q-anon crowd that is now growing and showing up in Q
t-shirts and carrying Q signs at Trump's twisted rallies. This is an even
more dedicated and wacko conspiracy subset of the 28% and they have
completely abandoned the real world for some bizarre fantasy of deep state
conspiracies and pedophiles running the world. These people are completely lost and honestly have no idea what is going on
in the world and may as well be babbling about the shape shifting lizard
people. My feeling is Marc and the amigos would not fall in with this crowd. My hope
would be they would be alarmed by the existence of such lunatics as part of
a voting contingent they also belong to. Trump encourages these wackos and honestly that's a dangerous thing. These
are not people that voted for Trump because they feel they have been
forgotten and that government has not helped them as their jobs have gone
away and wages have sunk and they can't keep up with the cost of living.
They voted for Trump because they are Alex Jones and Q-nuts that believe
these idiotic conspiracy theories.Trump's "fake news" and the "media is the enemy of the people" stuff is
directed right at them. They are already predisposed to thinking everybody
is out to get them so when Trump dog whistles about the media...well...these
people unplug their brains and eat that right up. I have to say I find it quite sad that some of the people in these videos
appear to be mothers. I guess I can more accept guys buying into this
nonsense but to see a person that might be somebody's mom spewing this crap
is just...well...appalling on some level. It's dangerous. These unhinged Alex Jones and Q-nuts typically have guns and
people that work in the media and even victims of shooting tragedies are
swamped with death threats these days...and our president is completely
pushing these people to make these threats. It's only a matter of time
before they begin acting on them.I would love to hear Marc, Pat, or Dale discuss this stuff. I would expect
they would also think that it is crazy. I mean I have no issue with people
disagreeing on policy issues...but this is just about creating total mayhem
in this country and the fact that the president of our country is
participating and gleefully endorses this stuff...that's sick. Trump completely plays to this crowd. His rallies and his tweets are geared
toward their lunatic beliefs. Trump literally is a greater danger to this
country than anybody else on the planet right now. He seems to have no intention of lifting the boot but I do believe a lot of
people are well aware that boot needs to be lifted.
