It's a pretty amazing family. Mother is a Dean of Arts and Sciences at at community university,(and is one the finest professors that I had ever had)and works in the homes of the disabled as a second job. The family works diligently for various causes including Cystic Fibrosis from which their son suffers; in fact, he's hospitalized as I write this

I don't think there was any malevolent disrespect intended. This is a teen's blog which she, perhaps naively, thought would only be seen by her friends. Douchebag, although distasteful, is pretty mild considering some the other words and lyrics out there.

All that to one side, my basic question is "did the the punishment fit the crime?"And, why no warning or three strikes and you're out? This is a kid who had been a true youth leader.
