Well, I can see your point about casting Penn as Dick being a bit too on the nose but in a way if he is right for it, he's right for it. Sure, playing Tommy would be more of a stretch in a way because Penn does not really come across as a funny-goofy kind of guy...well, at least not since he did his Jeff Spicoli thing. Still if you were going to go this way maybe Sean as Dick and Sam Rockwell as Tommy. Or maybe not Rockwell as he has already played Chuck Barris but sort of seemed like a fun idea to have Rockwell and Penn in the same thing. I'm not that crazy though about the idea of Penn playing both brothers mainly because I think the size of that gimmick might overshadow the story. Plus in general it sucks when some well known actor plays another well known celebrity. I think you end up sitting there going "Hey, look at Penn playing Tommy Smothers!"Maybe even better to have a couple of unknowns play them. Either way I'm with you that there would be a good film there that would not be Batman 12.
