if liars and thieves can buy a Presidency because of the popularity machine, even when seeing the ruthlessness in their (her) eyes and money-trail, then what’s left to haggle over?  ...Our present form of “democracy” is run.  Unless somebody with the wherewithal to crash the parties & stage a lawful coup d'état, then I ask you:  What does it really matter anymore who we vote for?

@ the beginning of every basketball or football game I attend, I remove my hat, stand at attention facing the Red, White & Blue, and listen to one rendition or another of our National Anthem.  A sacred song, a song who’s words aren’t always as impressive as the melody, but our anthem nonetheless.  And as I listen to it (sometimes mouthing the words, sometimes singing them out loud) I try to unearth the truth in it’s meaning, in our government’s actions (then and now), the passion-significance behind it that has sent so many a boy to his early grave or early disfigurement or some mental illness or chronic war-weapons ailment of one kind or another:  & mournfully, I have a very, VERY difficult time forming any real truths.  Only that it is habit in marriage with zeal.  There is a birthright eagerness that keeps that Anthem powerful inside me, a lifelong eagerness to believe this country can.  It’s flimsy, yep.  & this debate did not help, really, because here’s a well-spoken silver-spooned gentleman doing his best to make a stand beside a well-spoken kinda spooky silver-spooned lady of MEANs, and they are the richest and they remain able to fund this carnival of absurdities, and others have fallen out for lack of money, and the likely best one of the select is slowly being squelched, again, ……..and the richest one will win.

So what then?
