I've been able to hear the new CD a couple of times, and other than Radio Nowhere and a couple of other tracks, I'm very disappointed.  This is the first Bruce album that I thought missed the mark.  It makes Lucky Town sound like Born To Run.

Perhaps some of it will grow on me over time, as I also wasn't a huge fan of Devils and Dust until about the 12th listen, although that is still probably in my bottom 3 least favorite Bruce albums (Greetings...and Tom Joad are the other 2).  But these days, even a subpar Springsteen effort is better than a lot of the other stuff out there.  With 2 kids in their tween/teen years, I'm hearing a lot of preprocessed junk around the house, so someone who maintains their integrity like Bruce is still always welcome.

I've also been able to hear the new Plant/Krauss and Mark Knopfler discs.  The Plant/Krauss is very adventurous and is one of those great listens where you can't wait to hear what the next track is going to be.  Knopfler's is what I would expect it to be.  Very personal, introspective, and familiar, yet engaging and completely listenable.  I also watched the DVD of a show that he & Emmylou did, and it's fabulous.  Wish I could have been in the audience for one of those.

For anyone into Lyle Lovett, his new one is quite good, as Rocco DeLuca and the new Crowded House.  I've spent more on CD's (with a bunch on preorder as well) in the last 2 months than I have all year.  New Annie Lennox is coming from Amazon soon, along with Bruce, Plant/Krauss, Knopfler, Fogerty (low expectations there, but we'll see), and a couple others.  And then there's that new Britney Spears that should be dropping before the end of the year.....  ;)
