Gene,I don't wish to argue with you either but for you to dismiss the 50,000,000+ extinguished lives as something less than what the Jews faced is also wrong. Maybe in your thinking they don't measure up...I don't know. But for me they do matter. Here's the definition of the word.hol·o·caust 1. a great or complete devastation or destruction, esp. by fire.
2. a sacrifice completely consumed by fire; burnt offering.
3. (usually initial capital letter) the systematic mass slaughter of European Jews in Nazi concentration camps during World War II (usually prec. by the).
4. any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life. I understand your wanting its use for only in reference to what happened in WW2 and my initial description was to refer to the continued killing as a 'war' until Mick caused me to rethink it. Actually, Mick is right because in a war the other side at least fights back. That doesn't happen in abortion. If you have a better term for it I'd certainly consider using it. The terms 'abortion' and 'pro-choice' are lacking in their ability to convey what's happening. Sort of like the term 'ethnic cleansing'. Who the hell ever came up with that nice and tidy description of mass slaughter/murder of innocent people?Kevin g
