...so I had pasted in some book covers in the previous post and they didn't come through. (And I couldn't edit the post....!?)
So the books were:
Disturbing the Peace by Vaclav Havel, the poet/ leader of the Velvet Revolution in the Czech Republic
Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela
Parting the Waters by Taylor Branch- a great history of MLK and the Civil Rights movement in the '50's and '60's
The Story of My Experiments with Truth by Mohandas K. Gandhi
... and just about anything by the Dalai Lama...
