They’re capable/accomplished musical doors of perception minus their Morrisonian leave of grass, &, yep, they did come up to the states and snake a meaningless reality tv sparse to reinvigorate the market and scam some spoils for their journeys, ...BUT they are also the same gents who wrote & recorded The Swing, Shaboo Shoobah, Kick, etc. ...& I figure for the amount I paid for the tix, the seats that don’t even come close to bleeding, ...the venue that is one of the better theatre-sized auditoriums anywhere..., & even with the on-lease from wal-mart american idle gone badboy frontman they likely had already picked from the beginnings of that token-filler-caked network beauty contest, ...they have the savvy and the downunderness to rip up a great stage for a couple hours...and let folks like m’ bride & I have some fun with a flash-blast of the good ol’ SoCal dayz of yore....
We’ve got local guitar troubadours and troubadouresses any night we like. We’ve seen Pearl Jam enough for a while & besides the tix are far too expensive now after-the-sellout, ...and Roger Waters doesn’t go on sale until next month, & Dave Baerwald isn’t playing a venue anywhere within a coupla hundred miles from here, ...and Howard Jones can’t hop around the stage like ‘at anymore ;o) ...so we’re going to walk the streets of a great semi-local Cultural District...& then cozy into some plush surroundings for clad-in-black WHAM! on whey protein........& a few of our favorite ol’ INXS ditties...if we’re that lucky.
Anyway I learned something about semi-cheap-revisit concerts a coupla years ago. I got dragged-kicking-&-screaming to a Journey concert...& the only way I was convinced.to go was that Peter Frampton was sharing the stage...& a couple sets of great guitar would probably sustain me through a couple sets of [still very accomplished] Neal Schon...& some Steve Perry look-alike. Well, they tore the place up...& the house was on fire with happy happy estrogen...so good enough. I had a similar experience with Donnie Iris, ...who surprised the fck out’a me with a damm entertaining set, ...& with The Little River Band a few years ago who laced 2 & a half hours of one after another excellence........& I’d dig it if I could run across an opportunity to enjoy the like with STYX [sans Dennis DeYoung is fine by me...Tommy Shaw’s two-thirds of the band anyhow]. Hey, the best [high profile] concert I’ve seen in a while was Bruce Springsteen’s low-profile tour, ...& David Gilmour was asking what 3 thousand dollars for his tickets?? I can see System of a Down or the fckn brilliant Scott Gorsuch resurrected from the defunct Lollipop Factory or The Rydells or a whole slew of Bon Frog musicians at a beer joint up the street, this ain’t LA but there’s no shortage of music, ...do I give a fck that INXS doesn’t fit your billet? It’s just a few hours worth....
...Some things are merely healthy reminiscences to add a little fundamental nature to the new dayz........in excellent company.
