You all may be interested in reading this, the American Academy of Neurology's official stance on Persistent Vegetative State and withdrawal of artifical life support and other measures including tube feeding. If Ms.Schiavo indeed satisfies the criteria for the diagnosis of PVS, the medically ethical and humane decision would be to withdraw the feeding tube. Hence the importance of an updated and thorough neurological assessment.
