Agree.  The basic tenet of medical ethics in this case, and all similar cases,states that what should be done is what the patient would have wanted done, if she/he were able to or in a position to make that clear to her caregivers.  In other words, if Terry (and only her husband might know this), were fully aware of her circumstances, would she want to go on living this way and hence leave the tube in, or stop living and opt to have the tube removed.  That is the current accepted standard of medical ethics that we now practice. 

One particularly troubling aspect of this case, aside from the disgusting spectacle of this woman's tragic health situation being made a political football by this never-ending prick of a government, is that at no time apparently has she had a recent/updated neurological assessment to really ascertain her level of function.   From what I have read (and there is not much to read about her mental status), I am not sure she is in a Chronic Vegetative State (and that does have certain diagnostic criteria).  In fact, some of the members of the American Academy of Neurology have started a petition to have (with family permission), an updated neurological assessment.
