Again, maybe you should take a look at the grass roots artists who tend to play the smaller venue.
You won't hear them on the radio, you have to go looking.
I go to a lot of shows but not to many of the big arena rock shows these days.
I see a lot of top notch artist that play small "listening rooms" and the talent is there and the crowd is there to listen.
( there are always exceptions )
