Kent:
I've always believed that music is best experienced with other people. Some of the memories I treasure the most in life are the concerts I've been privileged to see: Springsteen "on fire" during the Darkness on the Edge of Town days. The Clash, roaring out of the gate in 1978, to show the world what punk was all about. Elvis Costello, that same year, angry and smart and totally alive! Now I am in my 40's but the prospect of still seeing something or someone new remains important to me. The most interesting singers, as you know, are well off the beaten path. During the last year I saw a revitalized Joe Strummer, Australia's great singer/songwriters Paul Kelly (in front of a few hundred people) and Mick Thomas (in front of 20 or so people). These were inspiring performances that I wouldn't trade for anything. So, I'll be there in Boston (Newton) for David on Thursday and I'll be up for it a decade from now if David is. Please don't give up on the live shows.
