Icon Hey folks, it's called the music BUSINESS!

Greetings!

Today's music scene is disgusting and an insult to the intelligence of the purchaser of music. At least, the ones not queued up for the new teen idol to be shoved down their throats. It is a BUSINESS, like it or not.

I don't like it, and that's because 95% of todays' music has no talent, integrity, or soul.

I have stopped attending concerts for the reason that it is mostly a pain in the ass to attend and to attempt to enjoy a show these days. The increase in the price of concerts has outstripped almost every sector in the economy as far as greed and lack of a quality product are concerned.

But, the big companies do not give a fuck about the art, the message, or the music. All they care about is the $$$$$$$.

Period.

For more about this, check out Toby Slater's Consumption music video, which all the lyrics are corporate whores. http://www.tobyslater.com

I have seen almost 500 concerts in my life, and I have seen nearly everyone at least once. But, I am not going to pay a nine dollar service charge on a ten dollar ticket. That is something I am not willing to tolerate.

So, instead of spending outrageous amounts of money on shows I will end up not enjoying, I spent the money on a home theatre system that cost about as much money as the new car my wife and I just bought.

And you know what?

We have no security guards arresting us for lighting up during the show. Never mind what I am lighting up, because in our no-fun-allowed arena, even cigarettes are verboten, and is cause for removal from the show.

I have no idiot spilling beer on my wife, or no twelve year old girl in front of me who won't shut up, sit down, or you name it. It has all happened to me at one time or another.

The very last show I went to was DMB. I was nearly kicked out of the show for "troublemaking" by asking an usher to make some idiot sit down. You see, she was completely blocking the view of a guy sitting next to me. He was paralyzed, and couldn't even move his head around this foul mouthed teen.

I have just purchased an all-region NTSC/PAL DVD player, and I have just purchased twenty imported concerts from Europe, none of which are available in Region 1 (North America). This includes 4 YES shows and 2 PINK FLOYD shows.

I will make an exception to see David, only because I respect him so much, and have been a fan since day one, way back in 1986. I hope to get to meet him briefly, just to express my gratitude, and convey my complete enjoyment of everything the man has done.

After the show, I will go back to my moratorium of "industry" events, because just like with any BUSINESS, I do not have to spend my money there.

And I won't either.

Something to think about . . .

Peace and Prayers,
